Sports Premium

During recent years, the government has allocated schools a sum of money, which is dedicated to enhancing and improving the provision of PE and Sport.

You can see from the following documents how we have allocated our funding over 2024/25 and the positive impact it has had:

Our key successes at Marshwood over the past two years include:

  • Implementing a new two-year rolling curriculum programme for PE which builds pupils' skills and provides a wider range of alternative sports
  • Offering special sporting activity days including climbing, footgolf, and archery
  • Collaboration with a specialist teacher from the Woodroffe School, including training up sports leaders within our older pupils
  • Professional development for all teaching staff through our Get Set 4 PE scheme and working alongside experts
  • Free after school sports club every week and a healthy start breakfast and active club before school
  • Taking part in inter-school competitions and events with our Multi Academy Trust and across West Dorset

We are very proud of our successes but would still like to achieve more.
For 2025/26, our focus areas are:

  • To continue links with local secondary schools including access to expert teaching
  • To introduce children to an ever wider range of sporting activities
  • To help talented children reach their potential in their chosen sport
  • To support our least active children to become more active
  • To create more links with local sports groups and clubs
